Past Costumes

Hi! So just to give you an idea of my past costumes. As I never really cosplayed officially until 2012, I figured that my Halloween costumes have pretty much been cosplay, so I've made a page to show you what I have been for Halloween before, and maybe tell you how I made my favorite part of it, or parts.

I'm sorry, I couldn't find that many pictures of my costumes. There were obviously more. I hope you will be satisfied with these.

I will not include all of the costumes I've ever made, because even I don't remember all of them, but I will show you my favorites.

The first one is 2011's costume: Batgirl - based on the version seen in the animated TV show "The Batman".

My favorite parts of this costume are the mask and the boots.

The mask's sculpt is made of plaster gauze (a favorite in the family.) Then, it was covered in purple fabric, taken from the sleeves of the shirt that eventually became the cape. Then, to make the eyes white, we covered them in Aida (a kind of needlepointing fabric that has tiny holes in it.)

A warning! Aida is hard to see through. You might want to try layered tulle instead.

Me and my father made the boots by buying some regular boots, then buying a square yard of purple vinyl leather and completely covering them. We put Velcro down the back so that they would be easy to put on.

2010's costume: Dawn (from Pokémon)
I actually wore this one to 2012's NYCC (New York Comic Con.) That was my first time cosplaying... (stares off into the distance... :P)

Anyway, my brother is Ash on the left, and on the right is me as Dawn.

You can pretty much tell how I made my Dawn costume, but just so you know, the dress is actually a pink skirt that's been sewn onto a black V-neck women's sleeveless shirt.

The hat, scarf, and boots are all synthetic fleece, which is really easy to cut, sew, glue... you name it. Actually, the boots are normal boots that are covered in pink fabric.

 2005's costume: Black Cat
This is not a costume from any particular series, I was just a cat. My favorite part of this costume is, of course, the costume itself. It was sewn by hand by my hard-working father, and covered my entire body (a Cat Suit, as you might say.)

Basically, there were three steps: my father drew a small pattern on regular paper and figured out how it would work, then he drew in real size on pattern paper and made sure it fit me, then he cut the pattern out from the wonderful furry fabric, and then laboriously sewed every seam by hand (the fabric was so thick, our sewing machine couldn't get through it.)

To the right is a picture of the costume laid out on the floor, with the tail poking out from the right side.
